It’s Almost Time For Jambalaya Festival in Gonzales

With all of the things to do in Baton Rouge this Memorial Day weekend in the Baton Rouge area, don’t overlook the Jambalaya Festival.The Jambalaya Festival is four full days of fun and food that you won’t forget. There will be a variety of foods, jambalaya cooking contests, including the Mini Pot Contest, and, of course, World Champion Jambalaya will be served every day. If you haven’t had it before, jambalaya is a delicious Creole/Cajun dish of rice, various meats, and seasonings that’s unlike anything you’ve ever had before.This is the 45th year of the Jambalaya Festival, and over the many years it’s become a big attraction as one of the tastiest things to do in Baton Rouge. Besides fantastic food, other things to do include a car show, an arts and crafts show, and both a 5k and a one mile fun run. The Jambalaya Festival is going to be a fun event for the whole family, kids will love the games and rides at the festival’s carnival.The festival will be set up around the Gonzales Civic Center, from May 24th through 27th. Come enjoy some Cajun and Creole cooking, and see why the Jambalaya Festival deserves to be on your list of things to do in Baton Rouge.

Celebrate Earth Day in Downtown Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge celebrates Earth Day the way that things should be celebrated in Louisiana—with music, festivities, and a day in Downtown Baton Rouge! On Sunday, April 22^nd, along North Boulevard from the Old State Capitol to the Old Governor’s Mansion will be filled with fun, excitement, and some educational opportunities. From Noon to 5 PM, there will be educational activities such as the LA Earth Day Science Challenge, Wetlands Tent, Earth Friendly Habitat, and more.

Music will be going on at the same time, but the line-up stretches from Noon until 8:30 PM so that you can rest your filled brains after 5 and enjoy the rest of the evening listening to artists like Marcia Ball, The Banana Slug String Band, and Tab Benoit.

Make sure you don’t miss out on the festivities. With Earth Day fast approaching, it’s good to spend time being thankful for living in a community that cares about our effect on the environment as well as being a great area to raise children and follow our bliss.
